Matthew Peach
Senior Associate
Matthew works in our commercial and dispute resolution team.
Matthew can assist with all types of commercial disputes, including in relation to:
- shareholder disputes and oppression proceedings;
- liquidator causes of action, and other proceedings brought by insolvency practitioners including in relation to breaches of directors duties and public examinations;
- consumer claims;
- proceedings involving urgent interlocutory freezing orders;
- matters involving property rights, including constructive / resulting trust claims and strata disputes;
- contractual disputes;
- debt recovery and enforcement; and
- home building and construction disputes.
Matthew can also assist with all types of commercial matters, including negotiating, preparing and advising upon:
- shareholder and unitholder agreements;
- business and share sale agreements;
- distribution agreements; and
- franchise agreements.
Background
Matthew has substantial experience appearing in Court and briefing and instructing counsel to appear in Court. He has been involved in mediations and settlement conferences in respect of large and small claims, many of which were settled prior to hearing.
Matthew has obtained a comprehensive understanding of accounting and financial matters through his studies and the matters he has worked on.
Qualifications
Matthew has a Bachelor of Business and Commerce, combined with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Sydney, and has an Advanced Certification in Insolvency from the University of Technology Sydney.
Matthew was admitted as a solicitor in 2013 and joined WMD Law in 2024 after practicing in the Sydney CBD until that time.
Matthew is admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
Life outside of WMD Law
Matt has only recently moved to the Sutherland Shire and has found it to be the perfect place to spend weekends with his young family and to pursue his interest in soccer (playing for the Kirrawee Kangaroos) and surfing at Cronulla and the South Coast.
